Changing the Game with a Julienne Peeler

August 6, 2013

I’m not one for kitchen gadgets. I get along really well with a sharp chef’s knife, a bread knife, a food processor and my immersion blender. I often see gadgets on other blogs or on Amazon and think, is that really necessary? A couple of years ago I went as far as to ask for a mandolin for Christmas, which my dad happily bought me. It’s been lugged to four different apartments and is still in the box. Needless to say I’ve been wary of gadgets since. But, the game completely changed last week when my vegetable julienne peeler showed up from Amazon. It’s simply amazing!

I’d seen a lot of chatter about spiralizers and julienne peelers over the years on other blogs. I bookmarked this and this and plenty more than vowed to either improve my knife skills or buy the tool. After realizing my skills were never going to be that good, I gave in. I’m so glad I did. Not only is this tool easy to use, it also opens up a whole new variety of recipes for even more vegetable consumption.

I did some research before settled on this julienne peeler.julienne peeler

Mostly because it got decent reviews on Amazon but also because it was only $8.99 and the cost wouldn’t be too great if it ended up being a dud. I’ve had no problems with it so far as I’ve julienned carrot after carrot after zucchini.

Just look how pretty it is.

I made this salad with it yesterday which will be up on WalkJogRun later this week and Michael plans to use the julienne peeler on potatoes to see if he can make shoestring fries.zucchini sprial salad

I’ll keep you posted on our progress. In the meantime, think about a julienne peeler, just saying.

Enjoy and Exhale!
